One of blist’s most powerful features is Discovery, which lets you create a new blist by using someone else’s blist as a starting point. I have a guest post over on FlowingData today, describing what Discovery is, and the thinking behind making everyone’s blists discoverable by others.

Interesting post. While I like the “discovery” aspect (and appreciate the “times used” rating), what might be even more valuable would be “best practices” information.
For example, if 85% of the blists related to the phrase “beta test” contain the same fields, that would be useful for me to know, regardless of whether I’m starting from scratch or using another person’s blist as a starting point.

You’re spot on. That’s a great example of the power of a social database – being able to offer up suggestions based on the aggregate wisdom of the constituents. We’re not there yet, but that’s where we’re headed.
